Hi there everybody,
Only four days until we finish school now for the Easter break.
This week we will be involving ourselves in some Easter activities as it is Holy Week and talking about the importance of Easter with the children.
On Tuesday afternoon the children (Foundation and KS1) will be competing in our annual Egg Rolling contest. Please don't forget to bring your decorated eggs in and remember to boil them them before decorating them! There is a prize for the person who rolls the egg the furthest in each class. The staff can't wait!
On Thursday afternoon the KS1 and foundation stage children have the opportunity to bring an Easter bonnet/hat into to school. There will be a parade in the afternoon to show off their wonderful designs. Every year we are very impressed by the hard work that goes into making their hats. We look for originality and the children's OWN work when judging the Easter bonnet competition!
In class we will be spending the week finishing our topic work and story writing from Traditional stories from other cultures. We will also be using the week to assess the children on the work that we have covered.
As we are covering the topic of Plants and animals in science, we have decided to plant some seeds this week. The children will be expected to bring them home for the Easter break and care for the plants, returning them to school after the holiday. It would be great if they could keep a diary of the plant's growth. A sheet will be sent home for the children to record their findings on.
The Easter holidays will be a good time to review the topics that we have covered in numeracy and literacy. We would like the children to look at some of the games that we have provided on the Blogspot since September as a 'review'. Below are some useful websites with Easter activities and Easter stories which you might find enjoyable to look at.
